Annie Merry from Faiths4Change has been working to develop climate action initiatives across Liverpool and beyond for a number of years. At its core, their work is a practical expression of what needs to happen locally, achieved by working together on projects that the whole team shapes.
Their three main areas of work are:
Land based work
- Growing organic food
- Maintaining soil health
- Gentle activism – challenging habits, such as food waste
They have projects in St Michaels in the City and more recently they have been engaged in renovating a garden allotment site in Knotty Ash
Supporting the circular economy
- They have worked to reduce textile waste and they try to address the fast fashion industry
- They are involved in education
- They work with schools to provide education, setting up mock UN style conferences where children represent different countries and their climate change concerns.
Faith and climate action projects
- They support churches in their work to reduce their carbon footprint
- They are involved in reducing pollution associated with travel
- They support faith and climate action projects, including those that involve civil disobedience
- They network with other organisations, reaching outside their faith community
- They share their knowledge with others
