We’re really excited to finally be able to start announcing some of the other community organisations that are going to make sPark It something brilliant. Today we’re very proud to announce that Yellow House are coming to sPark It.
sPark It is coming to a city centre street near you. We will transform on-street parking spaces into places where people can play, create, imagine and communicate with each other. Our goal is to help people really think about what they want from their urban landscape. We want to provide a platform for community organisations and small businesses doing brilliant things.
Yellow House is a unique youth organisation which was founded by George McKane. When George heard about sPark It, he called us up, and bent our ear for half an hour over all things community. George is a complete Vincent van Gogh fanatic, and Yellow House is named after van Gogh’s House in Arles – where his door was always open. He has spent a large part of his life providing vital support services to young people in our city, and we are absolutely delighted that sPark It will have this organisation on board.
Yellow House have been committed to the social emotional wellbeing and development of young people since the mid 1980’s. They have been at the forefront of direct work with young people throughout Merseyside, UK and Europe working on a daily basis at their own Centre and in schools, colleges and other youth agencies. They specialise in theatre, art and social projects and have gained national and international recognition for their innovative work.
With a focus on arts, theatre and creativity, they are planning to recreate a van Gogh painting as part of their sPark It installation, and we can’t wait to see this in the flesh!
We have so many more amazing partners to announce in the coming weeks, but we need your help to make sure that sPark It becomes a reality. The crowdfunder is now 40% of the way towards our target. Please, donate, and share with your networks, friends and family.
We can change this city, but we can’t do it alone.
