Launch of Mersey Green Map

Mapping climate and social justice activity in the North West.

We are delighted to let you know that our Mersey Green Map is now live and we have our first enterprises on the map.

What are we doing?

Does your business work for a better world? Transition Liverpool, Wirral Environmental Network and the Solidarity Economy Association are collaborating to provide this Mersey Green Map for the North West Region.

The map is for local, sustainable and ethical groups and businesses including:

  • community activities
  • the production sale and consumption of green foods green transport
  • green energy and green utilities
  • development of green buildings
  • greening of the environment.

This will allow us to:

  • Recognise and celebrate what is already happening in our region;
  • Look at what is missing;
  • Join the dots to create a collaborative and stronger voice;
  • Enable us to better share resources and drive forward change.

Our Zoom launch is being held on Thursday 19th November at 7.00pm

Working on Mapping with other local Transition Groups

We have made links with Transition Northwich, and Transition Bollington. They have some exciting plans to map community orchards and other food resources. They have also made links with the Solidarity Economy Association who have expressed an interest in expanding the function of their green maps to include resources such as these.

We have plans to make contact with other local Transition groups over the coming months.

The Traniscope project

We have also been contacted by Sam Rossiter from Totnes. He has been working on a “Traniscope” project to find ways to link up all the green maps working to support similar values into one pan national map.

Sam is now in contact with Colm Massey from the SEA about including our map with this wider system.
